Situated within Virginia’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport precinct and adjacent to NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility, Space Centre Australia LLC’s Wallops Island location serves as our United States headquarters for Project Karman Line and next-generation airborne science missions.
This strategically positioned facility enables responsive, rapid-launch capabilities for civil, defence, and commercial clients. As the US operational hub of Space Centre Australia’s global infrastructure, the Wallops site delivers dual-hemisphere reach and interoperability with allied space programs.
Project Karman Line
SCA LLC leads Project Karman Line – a transpacific horizontal launch initiative leveraging airborne deployment platforms for suborbital and orbital missions. With operations integrated under NASA’s reimbursable Space Act Agreement, the program aims to revolutionize access to space through mid-air launches using modified cargo aircraft and deployable launch stacks.
Airborne Science and Telemetry Support
Our Wallops site supports NASA and commercial airborne science campaigns, including atmospheric studies, high-altitude balloon operations, and sounding rocket logistics. Onsite telemetry, payload integration, and mission planning capabilities allow us to deliver turn-key mission readiness for a variety of scientific and research objectives.
Aircraft Wet Hire & Mission Services
SCA LLC will soon offer fully-crewed and mission-ready wet hire of large cargo aircraft, with services designed to support space payload deployment, logistics transport, and scientific flight campaigns. Ground operations are coordinated SCA LLCs support teams and benefit from shared access to Wallops infrastructure.
Future C-130J Super Hercules Operations
By 2026, SCA LLC will take delivery of a fleet of C-130J Super Hercules aircraft to anchor the Karman Line platform. These aircraft will be outfitted for high-altitude launch operations, rapid deployment missions, and heavy-payload science flights, offering a highly flexible platform to serve both U.S. domestic and global allied requirements.
